In your course confirmation there will be a direct link to your student handbook – please make sure you read it because it is full of useful information and will answer most of your questions.

If you have any other questions, please contact us and we will help you.

On arrival

All our students are met by their homestay host on arrival at Torquay bus or train station. It is very important that we receive arrival times well in advance.
If you booked a private car transfer then your driver will drive you to your accommodation.
If you have booked our apartments or hotel, our hotel or apartment managers will meet you.

How to find us

We are at 15 St. Marychurch Road, near the town Centre. You will receive a detailed map with clear directions on how to find us from your accommodation. Your hosts will also help you with directions and details of buses if necessary.

Your first day

Please come to the school at 08:15. On arrival, you will be given a IH Torquay bag which includes: your course outline, a map, pen and paper. Please bring your passport or identity card with you on your first day.

You will then complete a short speaking assessment.

At 08:30 we will start the induction presentation in which we will tell you everything you need to know about the school, your course, Torquay and essential welfare and safeguarding information.

Your course will begin at 08:45 if you have booked a Max 4 course. For students on a General English course, you will begin at 09:00.

We invite all students on a town tour at 13:30.

Your accommodation and course

We are very proud of our courses and the accommodation we offer.

On your second day, we will ask you to complete a questionnaire to find out how you feel about your course and accommodation.

If you have any problems or concerns, please let your teacher know or come and speak to us at Reception.

Your free time

We run an extensive social programme with activities most afternoons/evenings and two full day trips at the weekend. Our social programme offers a great opportunity to meet new friends whilst exploring the exquisite Devon and Cornwall area.

Full details of our Social Programme can be found on the notice board in the student lounge and in your welcome pack.

Some activities are free of charge. The afternoon/evening activities range from £10 to £20. The full day trips at the weekend range from £25 to £45.

Certificate and further study

On your last day you will receive your certificate and a report from your teacher.

Our Academic Manager will be happy to advise you on further study options and how to continue your Language Learning journey.

After you leave

Make sure you follow us on Facebook and Instagram for all the latest news about the school.

We always love to hear from former students to find out how they are getting on, so feel free to contact us and let us know what you are doing and how you are using your English language skills.
